Scouts - Because of the cold and dangerous driving conditions, we’re going to cancel/postpone today’s sledding and out door meeting.

No Meeting today. Stay warm and safe.

Since we’re skipping our outdoor meeting, there will be a regular meeting this Wednesday. See you then!

Troop Meeting 1/21/2026

The scouts had an excellent meeting making menus in patrols for our upcoming campout. Here are some announcements from the meeting:

The scouts planned menus for an upcoming campout. Scouts make sure to purchase your assigned foods with enough time before the campout.
Speaking of camping, we have a camping trip planned for February 6th - February 8th. More information will be sent out soon. We hope you can all come. A Sign Up Genius will be put out soon to gather interest, so fill that out if you are interested.
The skiing trip that was planned for Saturday has been postponed to a later date due to weather issues. More information about that change will be given soon.
The outdoor meeting on Sunday is still planned to happen. More information about that meeting will be revealed as the weather progresses.

Our Scouts showed interest in going back to Soap Stone Mountain for a hike this Saturday, from 10:00 AM to about 2 PM.

We will meet at the Shenipsit State Forest Parking lot at 10:00 - About a 24 minute drive from the vicinity of the Avery Street Church.

We’ll be hiking in the woods and at the top it’s a bit exposed. Hopefully we’ll see some snowflakes from the observation tower! It’s a beautiful hike with beautiful views and a Troop favorite.

Dress warm with rugged footwear and in layers. Hat and gloves.
Day pack.
Bring your own lunch - Jet boils will be available if you want to cook/boil something.
Bring your own water.
Siblings and Family are invited.

Please let us know if you’re coming - RSVP - so we’ll be on the lookout for you.

If your parent is not attending, you’ll need a permission slip.

Winter Sport Theme for January

Hi,

Our Troop’s theme for January is Winter Sports, and we have some fun activities planned.

This weekend we have a hike on Saturday 01/17. Hiking in the winter is a winter sport! Don’t miss this Troop favorite, and see the next message with more details. Please RSVP!

On Sunday 01/18, The South Windsor Ice Skating Arena has an open skate from 12PM - 1:30PM. This is a family event - not a drop off - so bring your own chaperone, friends, family. Rentals and admission are reasonably priced and more details are on their website.

Next week on Saturday 01/24, we’re planning a family Ski day on Saturday if the ski conditions cooperate. Also a family event - not a drop off. This is an opportunity to earn the Snow Sports Merit Badge. Stay tuned for more details.

And on Sunday 01/25, we’ll have an outdoor Troop meeting with - you guessed it - winter sports. Stay tuned for more details on that one as well.
